Hi everybody, it’s been four and a half years and were still going strong!

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the site. Thanks to everyone who has made this website successful. With everyone’s support and guidance the website will continue and prosper. It wouldn’t have been possible without a lot of peoples support. It’s great to see that this website has brought people all over the world together and to see that they still love their village even though there is thousands and thousands of miles between you and the village.

I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart to Thaya Sarwan Singh (Maneem) who has sadly passed away on Monday 11th October 2009 at the grand age of 95. May his soul Rest In Peace and may his legacy live on as a true hero. Without his help and sources this website wouldn’t have been at all possible as he was the only one person who had the old Girls College photos and old gurdwara Baba Sang photos safely stored away.

I would like to urge people who leave comments in the guest book to keep their language acceptable and not offensive in any manor. In the past few months have seen many numerous people writing insulting comments towards other members of the website. Sadly, this is why I have to read and accept your comments before they are being posted onto the website.

Please keep the good work up.

Guys- this site on sang desian is brilliant--- just what I need-

I am going to link it on my site- www.punjabinit.com a website on all of punjab that is relevant to all desi----- not one of those horrible boring punjab government ones.

Go to the site and if you have any thing to email me about sang desian- including pictures etc- please do.

Or just tell me if the site stinks..... i know it can't as I have or will have a whole page dedicated to Miss Pooja.

from the desi@punjabinit.com

It has been such a long time since i havn't written any word but it doesn't mean that i am not reading time to time if and when any new comer joins the site.As for as i know i remember when the girls college foundation was laid down in 1969 (Guru Nanak Dev Ji's 500th birthday) i was studying in grade 6th at govt high school Goraya. just like it happened yesterday when Jathedar Mohan SIngh ji Tor laid down the first brick for Guru Nanak girls college of our pind, i was present there.
I remember the entire village did the great Sewa to build the college ,God bless them all, majority of the pictures you have displayed on net (black and White)i was there when they were taken, it is not a big deal but good to see , thanx to u.
Any body interested to talk or to share any memory please feel free to contact me from net email address.

Sang Dhesian’s 5th Annual Picnic, Toronto, Canada.

Like every year, the families from Village Sang Dhesian, Distt. Jallandhar gathered for a picnic on Saturdary, 22 Aug. 2009 at Rattlesnake Conservation Area, Milton, Canada. The picnic was attended by over 70 children, young, adults and seniors.

Mr. Joginder Singh Grewal, Chief Editor, Punj pani, Punjabi newspaper was the chief guest at the picnic. While addressing the picnic Mr. Grewal congratulated for putting in efforts to be together and stick to one’s roots. He narrated how some of the West Indian people feel desperate to know about where they belonged to before coming here. It is a step in right direction that we tell our children about our backgrounds.

Talking about the development of villages in Punjab, he inspired the NRIs to contribute towards the basic facilities of drinking water, education, sanitary system. He praised the services being rendered by Baba Sang Public Library. He expressed his experiences about his visit to the library and told that he was overwhelmed to see the young children learning computer skills. He further added that rather than asking the village folks for development in the villages the NRIs should adopt small projects and take them to their completion. Mr. Grewal pointed out that approximately Rs.9 crore is being spent only on the game of Kabbadi every year which, according to him, was useless.

Mr. Joginder Kalsi presented the annual report for Baba Sang Public Library. Mr. Amrik Kainth thanked everybody for participating in the picnic and making it a success.

This picnic is organised every third Saturday of August. To know more about it you can visit www.sangdhesian.com or phone Mr. Premjit Dhesi at 416-896-7162 or Mr. Joginder Dhesi at 416-746-7316.

I had the honor of visiting Baba Sang Dhesian in the mid-70's. I could not believe how beautiful the pictures are and how much things have changed. I stayed for 1 month and ate every meal at the gurdwara. I have never forgotten the love that was extended to me while I was there.I was the first Westerner for many of the children to see.I was quite a novelty! My time there changed me forever. My saddest day was when I lost the silver bracelet given to me by the elder's wife. I had worn it for over 30 years when I lost it in the airport @ Los Angeles. My love to all that have the pleasure of living there. The Girls college was so small when I visited and I spoke very fast for the girls to understand me! Thank you and your ancestors for giving this young Westerner at that time a wonderful insight into village life.
